Rent Reduction for Lack of Services on the Horizon?

From the TA website:

Residents to File for Rent Reduction for Lack of Services

On Friday February 1, the Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association served notice upon CWCapital and CompassRock LLC that it would seek a rent reduction for the loss of trunk storage service, security systems, bicycle and carriage room storage, laundry room services, elevator service and building intercom services.

The Tenants Association is filing a rent reduction claim before New York State’s Housing and Community Renewal (HCR) agency for a diminution of services under the Rent Stabilization Law.  If approved, all tenants who sign on could see their rents rolled back considerably.  Those who do not will not be eligible for a rent reduction.

More at the Tenants Association website.

It looks like the TA deleted this post

There definitely should be a rent reduction for lack of services. These idiot hayseeds haven't a clue how to run this property. They should have stayed in Denver where they belong. I think a rent strike is in order. And a class action to get these rotten dorms out of our community. They don't belong here, their apartment set ups are in violation of City and FDNY ordinances, but they continue because of the corruption that is rife in the RE industry under the corrupt regime of Bloomberg. Something needs to be done and done soon. The TA should step up to the plate or get the hell out of our lives for good.

You're right! LOL. Hope I don't get a message in my email box asking me to delete even this post. (I rarely check my Stuy gmail account, btw.)

How can the TA delete a post on someone else's blog?

Great. More courts. More judges. More lawyers. Just what we all need.

So, if you rarely check your Stuy gmail account, why post it here as a way to reach you? I have written you two emails recently and have heard nothing back from you. I would appreciate a response, please.

I check my gmail infrequently because I don't have the time and am pretty much sick of Stuy Town affairs at this point. But I do check it eventually.

I've added a notation to that contact information.

Please don't burn out, STR. You are our only voice. Ignore us for periods of time to take a break from us, but please don't abandon us! Thank you!

Perhaps the tag line should read "Less at the Tenants Association website!"

Thanks. I'm not going anywhere. And this blog isn't disappearing either. I usually post when I get annoyed by something going on in Stuy Town, and I'm sure there will be annoyances in the future.

I also like to post nice flower/plantings photos of Stuy Town. And spring is coming.

Why did the TA remove this post? The people who are being deprived of laundry facilities (such as they were, given the deplorable MacGray crap) and intercom and elevator services should indeed be given rent reductions for diminution of services. I can't believe these despicable assholes are even planning to give people mid-lease rent increases because of the Roberts case. That lawsuit was probably more damaging to tenants than it was helpful. The lawyers made out like bandits while the tenants got screwed in the ass.

But I do have to say that I get annoyed by something else, which is why I sometimes don't feel compelled to open up my gmail. And that's people (a very limited amount) wanting me to change this or that in a post or delete it altogether. I bet I have a message, or two, from the TA requesting the removal of my recent post with a link to the TA's own removal of its posting about rent reduction. All of a sudden this BIG MYSTERY has arisen as to why that post was removed from the TA Facebook page and the TA website. I'm just not in the mood to listen at this point.

LOL. Yes, that would be accurate.

There is more at the Town & Village website:

Perhaps it will also be in this week's hardcopy newspaper.

You might want to reconsider your not feeling compelled to open your gmail. Never know when a lawyer might be writing you a "cease and desist letter" for allowing defamatory posts on your blog.

I've allowed the above to get posted here just to show what nonsense I have to deal with.

From what I've read on the TAFB, the laundry situation for those who have lost their laundry rooms and are having to go to some laundry room in PCV, it is a third world experience! Apparently, there is some housekeeper over there who thinks the laundry room and everything in it IS HERS!! I would recommend carrying mace if you have to do your wash over there. Sooooo glad I am not paying "market rate" for such great facilities!

The laundry facilities that still exist are getting worse. The dryers don't dry and they blow filth INTO the drum and get "clean" clothes dirty. The exhaust filters on the dryers blow muck INTO the machines! These Mac Gray machines have to be the very, very worst in existence. Washing clothes in a mud puddle and flinging them onto a hedge to dry would get better results than using this horrible, inferior equipment. Mac Gray should be put out of business.

" Washing clothes in a mud puddle and flinging them onto a hedge to dry would get better results..."

But that would never work since they are always removing & replanting the hedges. Those they do leave are usually so dehydrated that the branches would probably just snap & dump your stuff on the ground anyway, where it'd likely land in dog poo.

I live upstairs from students who are the Bitches from Hell. I should get a rent reduction for real suffering.

@Stuy Town Reporter:
Am I getting this right? The TA is sending you email messages asking you to voluntarily censor yourself AND anonymously posting intimidating threats when you don't?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Actually, when I did look at my gmail, there was nothing from the TA or anything else urgent. (Unless it was deleted.)

Anonymous said...

I don't think the TA would send you a threatening email. They are above that kind of silliness. It must have been some nut who a poster pissed off. Definitely not the TA's MO.

STR is the professional snoop antagonizing you in email?

Once in a while I get a silly email.

If you don't like what's going on on the TA's Fbook page, why don't you speak up over there instead of coming over here to take anonymous pot shots at people? Very cowardly.

Of course they would. It is what they do when someone doesn't agree with them. They remove any posts on any media they control i.e. their facebook page. They allow other posters to harass anyone who finds out about things they don't want published like the ladies who were posting about the illegal hotel rooms in ST/PCV. They are nothing but bullies, plain and simple.

You can't. They delete any posts they don't like. Try it yourself and see if they don't "defriend" you so you can't post on their page
